Vintage & Art Success

The South Coast Writers Centre’s inaugural Vintage & Art Bazaar in May was a fantastic success!

After a week of heavy rain, the sun shone for opening day on Saturday where a steady stream of people came through the doors of Coledale Community Hall.

It wasn’t only locals in attendance—marketgoers came from Sydney and all along the south coast, while one of our stallholders hailed all the way from Lithgow!

High Speed Dubbing DJs spun vintage vinyl records on Saturday afternoon, as people browsed stunning vintage clothing, nostalgic retro games, and beautiful handmade items, from artwork to ceramics to jewellery and more.

The SCWC had a range of rare and vintage books for sale from our own stall, like classic 1970s editions of May Gibbs’ Snugglepot and Cuddlepie.

Sunday morning was decidedly cool but as the sun came out so did the crowds, with people grabbing coffee and lunch over the road at Saltie Dog, Earthwalker, or the Coledale RSL, and visiting our neighbours Coledale Markets up the street.

The bazaar was held to help fundraise for our community writing programs, supporting young and emerging writers, writers from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander backgrounds, and writers facing financial difficulties. We raised several hundred in donations and book purchases on the weekend.

Watch this space for the dates for our next bazaar!
