Contributions are now invited for the next

SCWC ANTHOLOGY

Named Chroma, our 2023/4 anthology will include the winners and shortlisted works from the SCWC Poetry Award 2023. These poems responded to the theme ‘in colour’, and Wollongong Art Gallery’s exhibition Thinking Through Pink.

In keeping with this theme, we now invite submissions of poetry, and short fiction under 1500 words, that include a reference to, or respond to some element of the theme, ‘in colour’. Please submit your work in Word format via the form below. Do not include author details on the document.

Writers whose work is selected will be invited to read at the launch event and will receive a copy of the anthology.

Our 2022 anthology collects work by writers whose works has made a significant impact this year, including:

  • the winners of SCWC + Wollongong Art Gallery Poetry Award:

    • Erin Shiel, Peter Frankis, Lore White, Sean West, Jonathan Cant, and Rhian Healy

  • the winners of the Berry Writers Festival + SCWC Flash Fiction competition (to be announced)

  • the winners of the Illawarra Multicultural Services + SCWC Refugee Week Writing Competition:

    • Hanan Khorsheed and Fatima Sayed

  • commissioned work in partnership with Shoalhaven Arts & Health, and Bundanon Trust, from local poets:

    • Nicole Smede, Elanna Herbert, Gabrielle Journey Jones, Peter Ramm, Isabella Luna, and Julie Janson

  • short stories gathered from members through an open submission process:

    • Judi Morison, Linda Godfrey, Kathleen Bleakley, Mike Cavanagh, Elizabeth Walton, and Amelia Fielden

Legacies: SCWC’s 2021 Anthology included a poem commissioned by the SCWC from esteemed local poet Mark Tredinnick, and the winning poems from the SCWC + Wollongong Art Gallery Poetry Award 2021.
