Volunteer with us

The South Coast Writers Centre has a strong volunteer base. Our volunteers assist us with everything from events to archiving. Volunteers help us to run our program of literary events such as book launches, readings, workshops and panel discussions. They assist us in the setting up of events, the sale of books, social media promotion and catering, administration, and help around the office.

Whether you’d like to volunteer on an event or would like to offer us ongoing weekly assistance; we’d love to hear from you.

True Story - volunteers

15-16 November 2025

Welcome to True Story Festival, a showcase of some of the best creative non-fiction writing in Australia today. Join us as a volunteer and help us set the stage for the weekend of insightful and thought-provoking conversations. Tasks include assisting us with the front of house/info desk area, tea and coffee, and help us set up/pack down the festival each day. Volunteers can attend any remaining speaker session(s) on their day plus they’ll receive a complimentary day pass to the festival as well. Be a part of a vibrant literary community of writers and readers here in our beautiful Illawarra.

Writing Group Leaders wanted!

We are currently looking for enthusiasts who would like to start a new writing group. The writing group can be of any genre and in any location. You have to be a SCWC member. We have developed a helpful guide on how to start a writing group in our members area (must be logged in) here: https://southcoastwriters.org/starting-a-group. If you are interested to start a group, get in touch and we can help you find group members by placing an ad in our newsletter.

Expressions of interest

And lastly, we would like to ask for expressions of interest from you. What would you like to do, what would you like to help out with? Because we can make more opportunities for you as well, ones that fit your needs and interests.

If you are interested in volunteering for any of these events, please contact us and we will send you through more details.
