Volunteer with us

The South Coast Writers Centre has a strong volunteer base. Our volunteers assist us with everything from events to archiving. Volunteers help us to run our program of literary events such as book launches, readings, workshops and panel discussions. They assist us in the setting up of events, the sale of books, social media promotion and catering, administration, and help around the office.

Whether you’d like to volunteer on an event or would like to offer us ongoing weekly assistance; we’d love to hear from you.

Coledale Community Centre is open to volunteers. We are registered with Centrelink as a charity organisation.

Film Club

7 December 2024

Runs on the first Saturday of each month with Graham Thorburn. Work with Graham as a core club member and Graham's right-hand person to facilitate the smooth running of the club screening nights and assist with set-up. https://southcoastwriters.org/filmclub

The School Holiday Program

21-22 January 2025

Want to make a difference in the life of a young person? SCWC will be releasing a program of writing workshops, hands-on creative activities and events targeted at 12-18-year-olds. Volunteer alongside authors and creatives to assist with children's activities.

Writing Group Leaders wanted for 2025!

We are looking for volunteers who might like to start new writing groups in 2025. The writing group can be of any genre and in any location. You have to be a SCWC member. We have developed a helpful guide on how to start a writing group in our members area (must be logged in) here: https://southcoastwriters.org/starting-a-group. If you are interested to start a group, get in touch and we can help you find group members by placing an ad in our newsletter.

And lastly, we would like to ask for expressions of interest from you. What would you like to do, what would you like to help out with? Because we can make more opportunities for you as well, ones that fit your needs and interests.

Hardship Policy

If you do not have the financial means to attend a SCWC event, pay an application fee, or pay for your membership, please contact us to discuss how we can help.  We are happy to try to arrange a form of volunteer exchange on a case-by-case basis.
