In this two-day workshop, stand-up comedian/author Mandy Nolan and performer/academic Dr George Catsi challenge you to find your most powerful and engaging narrative so that you can knock your audience’s socks off!

EARLY BIRD TICKETS EXTENDED TO 29 MAY

For many writers, the most comfortable place is behind the keyboard. This is where they excel in storytelling and in capturing the hearts and imagination of their audience. But when the book is published many writers are called to engage in a marketing campaign that may involve face-to-face appearances. This means for a writer to get the best traction for their book, they need to be comfortable and know how to engage the public space. They need not just to be a writer – they need to be a performer. They need to know who they are, what they think, and what their story is.

This is what an audience wants from writers. They don’t just want you to read excerpts of your book – they want excerpts of you.

For some, this is the most painful part of the process. It makes writers nervous and self-conscious – but it doesn’t have to be like this. You can learn how to turn these torturous moments into joyous experiences. You can learn to command your space, convey your message, and convince others to buy your book!

It’s a deep and creative exploration of your voice and your uniqueness. We don’t want to make you sound like anyone else, we want to focus on magnifying your natural self!

George Catsi and Mandy Nolan are the creators of Authentic You – a unique approach to speaking and presentation that draws down on narrative as the secret ingredient to connecting with audiences and being a performer that audiences remember and festival directors and media producers choose for talent.

Over the last 18 months, Mandy and George have delivered their bespoke masterclass to a diverse cohort including published authors, academics, professional presenters, broadcasters, doctors, psychologists, scientists, and lawyers who present at global climate change conferences. What these people came to find and left with was the element in their presentation that set them apart. They found how to become memorable. How to connect. This is the power of your authentic narrative.

Mandy is a comedian and published author of five books, who has spoken at festivals around the country, been on TV panel shows, and is a regular guest on radio. George is an academic who lectures in Design Thinking, and has run bespoke workshops with the NSW Writers Guild in performance to address this very challenge. Watch a short video from them over on our Facebook page!

“The processes and outcomes in Authentic You is a reminder of the power of our stories, as who we are and why we do what we do is what underwrites our complexity and our sameness!”

Allen & Unwin author Laura Bloom recently completed a training with Authentic You, and had this to say:

“Saying is different to writing. As a professional writer it was really enlightening and useful to learn about the mechanics of delivering your thoughts. I can’t wait to put it into action!’ Laura Bloom. Perfect for story or project pitches, podcasts, interviews, panels and keynotes.”

Undertaking the Authentic You Masterclass prior to the release of my memoir, Gough and Me, was one of the best things I did. While I had conducted numerous book talks when my debut novel, The Changing Room was published, George and Mandy helped me to hone my preparation and presentation skills. This increased my impact and confidence.

Since the course I have had over 25 speaking engagements, including book talks and media interviews. The course was a game-changer in improving my ability to present powerfully and develop audience rapport. Highly recommended for all writers and creatives.

On the evening of 12 June (the first day of the masterclass), George will also be performing his successful comedic memoir show, Am I Who I Say I Am? Tickets are separate from the masterclass, and are just $30! Read more about it here.
