Poets in the City

The Poets in the City group held its monthly meeting on Wednesday 10 August.

We workshopped poems on rough sleeping in London; counting in Truva (Troy); Margaret Olley’s blues; how to land safely when leaping fences drunk; and an exciting piece combining First Nations language - Gamilaraay - with English about a creek’s progress through the landscape of North West NSW. We also looked at two sea poems - one on the anthropocene - and a poem called To Die Upon the Sea by Norm Fairbairn which has been long-listed for the 2022 Zinewest writing competition.

We also congratulated Ron Pretty on the forthcoming launch of his book - 101 poems - a fabulous collection spanning nearly 60 years of writing! Click here for more details about the launch, and to register to attend for free.

Poets in the City provides a safe space for poets to share their work and receive constructive feedback. Our next meeting is 14 September and new members are welcome; please contact Peter Frankis (peter.frankis@iinet.net.au).
